Hello WOPC community! We are thrilled to announce the 35 year anniversary for our beloved staff member, Kim Ross on Friday, March 1st! We have a little surprise in store for Ms. Kim and we would be so happy if you would like to join in celebrating her huge accomplishment by writing a few words on a poster that will be hung in the hallway in our Centre on Friday. We feel so gratified and privileged to have such a wonderful and caring staff member on our team and would like to say:
“Thank-You” to Ms. Kim for your dedication to West Oakville Preschool Centre! Congratulations Ms. Kim!
We would also like to acknowledge an important day on February 28th. On this day in 2007, a student in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. It has since been recognized annually worldwide as a day to stand against bullying. We would like to encourage “kindness” on this day by inviting students and staff to wear a pink shirt. Pink Shirt day encourages everyone to be inclusive, welcoming and supportive with friends, classmates and family and there’s no better time to start this than at a young age.
Many of our staff members have been attending Professional Development Workshops in the recent months. This year at WOPC, we are going to be putting a lot of focus on Professional Development. Please feel free to ask the staff for feedback from these learning experiences, as they can also benefit your child’s home life. We want our Centre to stand out from others by employing the very best and most educated staff. We are also going to be planning some more workshops in house at our Centre for parents and educators to attend together. Please feel free to give us feedback on any topics that may be of interest to you in the future so we can try to accommodate for them.
As always, we would like to express our thanks to the wonderful families in the WOPC community. We feel so very blessed that you place your trust in us on a daily basis with your precious little ones.
Warmest regards,
Cathy Matsos
