In the month of December, the Toddler 1 room has many exciting activities planned. Although we are still under construction in our room, we still intend to make the best of this festive month. We have special crafts planned and fun sensory activities. We have our annual Christmas party coming up, in which we will prepare crafts from children for their parents, as well as presents for the children from Santa. We hope that everyone has a great holiday season full of love and prosperity.
Communication skills have been emerging recently, both verbally and non-verbally. Children are using sign-language and simple words to express their wants and needs, likes and dislikes. Language is much clearer to understand for adults. Children have shown a lot of progress in gross-motor skills, particularly in balance and coordination. We are giving them ample opportunities, time and space to understand their bodies and how they work, and for mastering large muscle movement necessary for gross-motor development. Children have been showing interest in similar activities and have emerged from solitary play to more parallel play with one another, sometimes exchanging materials and ideas. As usual, they continue to enjoy music and movement activities, with great enthusiasm!
